Of late, Volvo cars have been attracting a lot of attention. In
the recent past, Volvo has released a number of SUVs and the
2017 Volvo XC40 joins this list of vehicles which include the
XC60 and XC90.
Though the vehicle is primarily targeted to the Indian market,
Volvo will also offer the model in other markets world over.
The new Volvo has been significantly redesigned to enable it
compete with the segment’s top models.
Volvo is almost finalizing development of the XC40 and already
the model is undergoing testing though disguised in the smaller

The XC40 will seat at the top of its lineup. In order to
justify this big role, Volvo has hooked up the car with a
revamped exterior. New revisions are seen from the front bumper
which features new air intakes.
The revisions extend to the radiator grille which looks smaller
than that of the outgoing model. The grille will also feature
chrome edges. Flanking the grille will be a pair of modified
Xenon headlights with an option for LED headlights. The front
will also feature new fog lights which mounted on the bumper.
At the back, the XC40 will receive redesigned taillights and a
revised bumper. The 2017 XC40 will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels
with an option for 18-inch wheels. The model will also feature
a glossy roof made of aluminum.

Like the exterior, the cabin will also been greatly modified.
Volvo designers have invested a lot of effort in designing an
interior which offers a good blend of convenience, comfort,
entertainment and safety.
The seating arrangement has also been altered to create more
space for passengers and cargo. Drivers will benefit from the
revamped instrument panel which will feature a TFT display and
digital clusters. Premium cloth will be the standard upholstery
material for low trim models while higher trim vehicles will be
upholstered in quality leather.
Safety is also boosted with ABS, blind spot monitoring with
cross traffic monitoring, traction and stability control and
many more. Still most of the 2017 XC40 information is being
kept as a secret so expect more updates on this model before it
finally hits dealerships.
Engine Specs and Performance
According to rumor mills, the XC40 will feature two engines
under it bonnet; a petrol engine and a diesel one.
The petrol version will be a 1.6 L, 4-cylinder engine which is
capable of producing 180 hp @ 5,700 rpm and 240 b-ft of torque
between 1600 rpm and 5,000 rpm range. This engine will be
paired to a 5-speed manual transmission system as standard and
a 6-speed automatic system as an option.
For more power output, buyers can opt for the 2.0 L, 5-cylinder
diesel unit that can deliver 148 hp at 3,500 rpm and 220 lb-ft
of torque between 1,500 rpm and 2,700 rpm. The engine will be
mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system which will
send power to all wheels.
There are also rumors about a hybrid engine. The hybrid
unit being rumored is the new T5 Twin plug-in hybrid system.
Price and release date
Volvo has hinted that they plan to release the 2017 Volvo XC40
in the first half of 2017. The base model will have a starting
price of around $ 32,000. Official information will be
communicated close to its release.

Q3, BMW X1
